Flutist and voice artist
Judith Pertz
(2 maart 1946, USA) has been a teacher for more than thirty years, giving private lessons at home
and working as flute, ensemble, pop and improvisation teacher at the Muziekschool Noord in Amsterdam North. She is a member of the KNTV,
the union for and of professionel musicians.
Since 1969 Judith Pertz has played in the USA, United Kingdom,
Belgium, France and The Netherlands as a solo artist and in various types of groups --
classical (Amsterdam Conservatorium, 1976); world music (through playing and performing
with musicians from various cultures; jazz improvisations (among others: Burton Greene and
Trio Pretzel & Comm); music theater solo programma "The
Phoenix and the (Intangible) Longing," with flutes and Dutch & Flemish poetry.
In 1999 she composed a one hour quadrophonic sound collage called
Woman and the Winds using a combination of composed pieces and recordings from her
world travels and nature sounds. She has produced thirteen Cd's.
In 2006 she gave performances of her new work, "A Unique Dialogue."
This is a co-production with the Belgian painter,
Lieve Dejonghe . Music was projected from
eight speakers around the public, Pertz gave live performances while Dejonghe's evocative paintings are projected
during this multimedia performance. There is a stereo CD available of a live performance.
